Testimonials

Aimee is really enjoying expressing herself at the Dramaworks sessions. She's always been outspoken and a colourful character at home but sometimes was a little introverted in groups of her peers.... However, since going to Dramaworks she's really come out of her shell and interacts fantastically with all ages! Thanks

We are indebted to Dramaworks - the first time our son ever went on stage was with Dramaworks. His confidence and creativity as a person soared as a result of his experience - all down to Dramaworks.

Thanks

My daughter attended Dramaworks. The classes encouraged fun whilst teaching the core drama elements. With these building blocks it enabled her to develop her passion further. My daughter Abbie has now gained a place at the Brit School for Performing Arts.

Dramaworks Showcase , 15th December at the Barn, the Causeway

Drama works its Magic!

Dramaworks presented its debut showcase on Tuesday 15th December to a packed audience in the Barn and children of all ages performed a wide selection of original pieces with confidence and style.  The show kicked off with a delightful and amusing tale of the Magic cats which was confidently narrated by Sachin Porter aged 7 whilst the cats danced and created mischief to the tune of 'Everybody wants to be a Cat' and as the children were aged 4 to 5 this was highly entertaining ! Aimee Purchase, Millie Davis, Freddie Tyson, Lila Porter and Willam Huntsman delighted everyone with their antics! The Wizard of Oz was adapted for young children and Dorothy was Eleanor Herrod aged 6 and it was a triumph for her  as she had overcome her nerves to lead the trio of Brooke Collins aged 5 as the scarecrow ; Kit Bessant aged 7 as the Tin man and Jayde Ashley as the scaredy lion to the Emerald City despite the evil attempts of the wicked witch to stop them, played with vigour by Karen Herrod . Ben Faulkner, aged 5, as Toto added humour to the performance and his brother Sam, aged 7, doubled as the narrator and the Wizard which added gravitas to the piece. The older children demonstrated their imagination, as well as their acting talents, with a selection of scenes based on a Christmas theme and highlights were the three princesses lost in panto land played by Isla Martin,Carol Ann Collins and Ella Vardey which ended with a fun rendition of 'Let's Dance'!  'Santa's Bad Day' with Joe as Santa and Patrick, Oliver and Christopher as the elves trying to organise him, was a comic and well crafted piece. 'The Family Christmas which went Wrong ' struck a chord with the audience and Sophie, Lily, Mathew, Gerogina and Marc were very funny in their portrayal of family life!

The Holbrook group performed a selection of scenes with a more sober theme to help us remember the spirit and bravery of people in the1st and 2nd world wars. The first piece was 'Evacuees' which was a movement section which emphasised the sadness of the children leaving their families and Jasmin, Ileana, Tara, Lizzie, Elyse, Annalise displayed the emotion well and Louise Grant was a convincing teacher. 'Christmas at War' showed the drama of Christmas spent under the threat of air raids and Charlotte,Evelyn,Amy, Madeline, Abi and Sacha managed to inject humour into the scene to show the spirit of the time. Finally, the moving portrayal of Christmas in the Trenches was a poignant and moving movement piece commemorating the famous Christmas Eve armistice of World War one where the English and Germans joined together for a football match. The boys displayed sensitivity and a mastery of movement and credit goes to Edward Southgate, Alex Taylor, Harry Brazier, Guy Mannion, Jacob Martin, Edmund Lyons and Daniel Webb . The show ended with a demonstration of LAMDA pieces by Abi Jewett, Amy Jones, Oliver and Christopher Hanniford, Joe Endicott and Jasmin Tyrell before the whole company joined together to sing 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas!'
