![]() Dramaworks is delighted to be able to offer these highly prestigious awards to our present students and to outside students. The combination of Julia's wide teaching experience with that of Sian Pinder, a recent drama graduate guarantee superb results! There is a small additional fee for Dramaworks students for this and examination fees are payable in January for entrance to the examinations in April/May. The examinations will take place in Horsham and they last between 15 and 30 mins depending on the grades. It involves a presentation of two pieces of acting or verse at the lower levels but older students present a more thorough and detailed knowledge of the pieces and techniques employed.
Intensive Holiday Courses
These provide an excellent way for A level students to gain extra points for university entrance regardless of the subjects they are studying. Furthermore they will develop confidence and gain interview practice too. The courses cover all aspects of knowledge for successful completion of the grades. All students will be entered at Grade 6 which is the initial grade for for qualifying for UCAS points and it is worth 30 points at a merit level and 45 for a distinction. Further information on the UCAS points can be found on www.lamda.org.uk There is a posssibility that some students can be entered for a higher level. The course structure is outlined below and it can be done in 2 days either separately or consecutively .
Course Outine -brief synopsis
Day One
Breath control and diction. Warm up games and tips on delivery. Movement and gesture to create mood and character using Laban techniques. Outline of the Stanislavski's theory on emotional memory and objectives. Practical assessment . Choice of pieces.
Day two
Discussion of context and subtext of pieces.
Supervised library research task on context. Speed learning techniques and individual direction of each student. Examination entry details finalised for examination 6 to 8 weeks after course.
Course to take place in central Horsham in February Half term and Easter Holidays. Provisional dates Monday and Tuesday 16th and 17th February 2010. 10am to 4 pm Thursday 7th and 8th April 2010 . 10 am to 4pm Location and final dates to be confirmed. Deposit of £20 for one day and £30 for two days.
Students should be prepared to work hard and there will be half an hour for lunch and they should bring a short reading with them. Study materials will be given as well as their annotated pieces .Examination fees will be extra and depend on whether they will present a duologue or monologue but will be around £35. Examinations will be in central Horsham and will last about 30 mins. Places are strictly limited and so early application is strongly advised. |
