Current Dramaworks Venue

dramaworks-logoHello all,

Now the witching hour is behind us it is time to turn our attention to the new half term with Dramaworks. We can promise a cracker !!

We are delighted to announce some important changes to our programme which we hope will enhance our delivery of the quality tuition and fun workshops of which we are so proud.

New hall from 5th November 2014

On Wednesday we start our sessions at the London Road Methodist Church. This offers us greater flexibility as it has a range of rooms, a larger hall space and staging when needed. We have been very happy at the Friends Meeting House but as we have so many students who are getting taller, we are finding the space does not meet our needs.

The Wednesday sessions will be in the lounge and adjacent rooms and occasionally the Wesley Hall . The Saturday sessions will be in the Wesley Hall.

This allows us to run parallel activities when required.

Change of structure for older students

We are in the position where we now have many older students who are doing higher level LAMDA exams and we want to offer them the best teaching for these very valuable qualifications which are equivalent to AS and A level grades. We are the prime provider for these qualifications outside a school environment in West Sussex. Our results are outstanding and we want to go from strength to strength.

Saturday sessions at 1.30 to 3pm and 3pm to 4.30 pm and Wednesday sessionsfrom 6pm to 7.30 pm are affected only.

The session will start with a 15 minute warm up and end with a 15 min fun cool down but the main part of the session will be devoted to LAMDA preparation. This may involve group activities but there will be more small group work on pieces. This will be made easier as we have the use of adjacent rooms. Once a month there will be a masterclass.

We are convinced this will prepare students more thoroughly and we have discussed these changes with the students who seem to be be very happy with this development.

Additional short courses

We would like to widen our delivery of short courses which can run for 4 to 6 weeks as an add on to our usual programme. These would be stand alone courses which would be outside the normal classes . We anticipate offering such topics as comic improvisation, puppetry, physical theatre, storytelling, stage combat and specific voice work. The programme is designed to cover a wide range of ages and interests. Further information will be sent separately.

Certificate Presentation

Apologies as this has been put back to 19th November at the Wesley Hall where we will showcase some of the work of our talented students as well as award recent LAMDA certificates. It will be at 7.30 pm and there will be no charge. It would be lovely to see as many parents as possible!

Please order your hoodies in time for Christmas by 19th November. These hoodies are excellent quality and last for ages ! Names can be added on back or nicknames . They are really useful for class, rehearsals and exams. Cost is £27 for smaller sizes and £29 for up to adult. Forms at class or you can [email protected] Ages go up from 5-6 to 13-14 .

Christmas Parties

As usual the last session of term will be a Christmas party with a staff entertainment. Details nearer the time. We hope to welcome Patrick back as a performer!
